NETFLIX TV SHOWS AND MOVIES
The primary goal is to use DAX functions to clean, transform, and analyze a dataset, uncovering insights into Netflix movies and TV shows—specifically where content is predominantly produced and who Netflix’s target audience is. Additionally, to enhance the visualization and accessibility of these insights, a dashboard was created using Power BI. This data provides valuable insights for directors and producers interested in developing content for Netflix, highlighting target areas and identifying potential content gaps.
Objective:
This report answers the following questions:
What are the most popular genre categories on Netflix?
Does Netflix offer a balanced variety of content across different age groups (Adults, Teens, Children, Families)?
During which months does Netflix release the most content?
Are there any underrepresented genres or audience ratings in Netflix’s content library?
Actions to create this report
-
I sorted and cleaned the data, removed unnecessary columns, and adjusted the column order in Excel.
-
Utilized DAX to create custom measures and calculated columns by applying functions such as ADDCOLUMNS, TRIM, COUNTROWS, SUMMARIZE, UNION, and FILTER to effectively manipulate and reshape the data.
-
Designed a dashboard to visually represent content types and audience data, along with a timeline-based analysis of Netflix content and release years to provide insights into the types of content being produced.
